Who We Are
A project born of curiosity, Japanese culture and a fascination with the seals that hold the memory of every temple and shrine.
From curiosity to collecting
It all began with a shared interest in Japan: its history, its aesthetics, its way of understanding time and the sacred. Like many people who delve into Japanese culture, we kept discovering layer upon layer of fascination.
It was along that journey that we came across the concept of goshuin —the red-ink and black-calligraphy seal that temples and shrines offer to visitors—. We soon realised that behind every seal lay a unique story: that of a place centuries old, with its own legends and details that made it unrepeatable.
What started as curiosity turned into something greater: the desire to document, share and make accessible that world to other Japan enthusiasts who perhaps did not yet know it.
Culture, history and detail
Four pillars that guide every entry we publish
Japanese culture
Japanese culture is the starting point. We study the historical and spiritual context of each place before writing a single line.
The Goshuin as a gateway
The seal is not just a souvenir: it is an invitation to understand the place. Each design speaks of the deity worshipped, the name of the temple or its nature.
Living history
Many of the temples we feature have stood for over a thousand years. We are passionate about uncovering the historical layers that make each place unique.
Boundless curiosity
The unusual details, the local legends, the curiosities that don't appear in conventional guidebooks: that is exactly what we look for and want to share.
Why Goshuin.es exists
A living archive of temples and shrines
We want to build the leading Spanish-language reference on the places that offer goshuin: their curiosities, their history, the description of their seals and everything worth knowing.
For travellers and Japan enthusiasts
Whether you are planning a trip or you are simply drawn to the world of goshuin from home, here you will find honest, carefully crafted information made with a love for detail.
A project by people, not algorithms
We are a small team driven by passion, not by traffic metrics. Each article is written because we find it genuinely interesting, and we hope you will too.
